Default preferences to estimate faster
Setting up your default preferences in VoltPro allows you to create estimates more efficiently by automatically applying your standard rates, taxes, and terms. This guide will help you configure these settings to streamline your workflow.
Default Currency and Labor Settings
Setting default labor rates and labels saves time when creating estimates.
Access Estimate Settings
Click on your profile picture at the bottom of the left navigation
Click "Settings"
Select "Estimates" from the settings menu
Configure Default Labor Information
In the "Labor" section, enter your default labor label (e.g., "Labor", "Installation", "Service")
Enter your standard hourly rate in the "Default Rate" field
These values will be automatically applied to new estimates
You can still override these defaults on individual estimates as needed
Default Tax Settings
Setting up default taxes ensures consistent application of tax rates across your estimates.
Access Tax Settings
Navigate to Settings > Estimates
Scroll to the "Tax" section
Add Default Taxes
Click the dropdown menu to select from your saved tax rates
If you need to create a new tax rate, you can do so within an estimate and then come back to set it as a default
Click "Apply" to set the selected tax as a default
Default taxes will be automatically applied to all new estimates
Managing Multiple Tax Rates
You can add multiple tax rates if your business operates in different jurisdictions
Each can be individually added or removed from estimates as needed
Global Product Catalog Settings
The global product catalog gives you access to thousands of pre-built electrical materials.
Enable/Disable Global Catalog
In the Estimate Settings, find the "Global Product Catalog" section
Toggle the switch on to include global products in material searches
Toggle off if you prefer to work exclusively with your own material catalog
How Global Catalog Affects Estimates
When enabled, global materials will appear in search results when adding items to estimates
Global catalog items are marked with the VoltPro icon
You can add these items directly to estimates or save them to your personal catalog
Default Additional Content
Set up standard terms, conditions, or notes that will appear on all your estimates.
Configure Default Content
In the Estimate Settings, find the "Content" section
Use the text editor to create your standard content
You can use formatting options like bold, italic, and lists
This content will prefill the "Additional Content" section in the estimate form
Best Practices for Additional Content
Include payment terms (e.g., "Payment due within 30 days")
Add standard exceptions or conditions (e.g., "Price valid for 60 days")
Include any legal disclaimers your business requires
Keep the content concise and professional
Default Contact Information
Set default contact information that will appear on your estimates.
Set Default Contact Details
In the Estimate Settings, find the "Contact Information" section
Enter your default contact name in the "Default Contact Name" field
Enter your default contact email in the "Default Contact Email" field
This information will appear on estimate PDFs and can be overridden on individual estimates
Organization Details for Estimates
Your company information is pulled from Organization settings for use in estimates.
Access Organization Settings
Navigate to Settings > Organization
Configure Company Information
Enter your company name
Add your logo (recommended size: 200x200 pixels)
Fill in your company address, phone, and email
This information will appear on all estimate PDFs
Best Practices for Organization Details
Use a high-quality logo for professional appearance
Ensure all contact information is current and correct
Complete all address fields for proper formatting on PDFs
Saving Your Preferences
Save Changes
After configuring your preferences, click the "Save changes" button at the bottom of the page
A success message will confirm your settings have been saved
Testing Your Default Settings
Create a new estimate to verify your default settings are applied
Make adjustments to your preferences if needed
